Daily Summary of Events

1 Mar 69:  Flight operations were not hampered by weather or enemy action.  HMM-364 flew 140 sorties for 40.5 flight hours, lifting 36.9 tons of cargo, 118 troops/passengers and expended 200 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Seven medevac missions carried 11 Emergency, 7 Priority and 4 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units: Taylor Common, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Three enemy fire incidents were reported with YK-4 receiving 7 hits, YK-1 receiving 4 hits and YK-18 receiving 2 hits.

2 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 155 sorties for 34.4 flight hours, lifting 32.8 tons of cargo and 198 troops/passengers.  Eleven medevac missions carried 18 Emergency, 8 Priority and 3 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units: Taylor Common, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  One enemy fire incident was reported with YK-3 receiving 1 hit.

3 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 127 sorties for 29.9 flight hours, lifting 13.1 tons of cargo, 114 troops/passengers and expending 300 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Fourteen medevac missions carried 4 Emergency, 9 Priority and 22 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.
One enemy fire incident was reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

4 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 102 sorties for 28.2 flight hours, lifting 20.0 tons of cargo, 76 troops/passengers and expending 1,600 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Nine medevac missions carried 21 Emergency, 4 Priority and 8 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units:  Taylor Common, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Seven enemy fire incidents were reported with YK-5 receiving 6 hits.

5 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 155 sorties for 43.9 flight hours, lifting 44.0 tons of cargo, 224 troops/passengers and expending 400 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  One medevac mission carried 1 Priority evacuee in support of the following Operation and Units:  Taylor Common, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Four enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

6 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 264 sorties for 63.6 flight hours, lifting 26.0 tons of cargo, 689 troops/passengers and expended 1,300 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Fourteen medevac missions carried 4 Emergency, 14 Priority and 5 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operations and Units:  Taylor Common, Victory Dragon, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Three enemy fire incidents were reported with YK-3 and YK-16 each receiving one hit.

7 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 195 sorties for 42.5 flight hours, lifting 26.6 tons of cargo, 216 troops/passengers and expending 1,550 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Fifteen medevac missions carried 23 Emergency, 32 Priority and 8 Routine evacuees while expending 2,250 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance in support of the following Operations and Units:  Taylor Common, Victory Dragon, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Seven enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

8 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 154 sorties for 36.2 flight hours, lifting 39.6 tons of cargo, 171 troops/passengers and expended 500 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  One medevac missions carried 1 Priority evacuee in support of the following Operation and Units:  Taylor Common, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Two enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

9 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 74 sorties for 20.6 flight hours, lifting 8 troops and passengers.  Fourteen medevac missions carried 4 Emergency, 7 Priority and 4 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  One enemy fire incident was reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

10 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 165 sorties for 42.2 flight hours, lifting 12.6 tons of cargo, 215 troops/passengers and expended 1,000 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Thirteen medevac missions carried 10 Emergency, 2 Priority and 2 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units:  Taylor Common, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Four enemy fire incidents were reported with YK-8 and YK-19 each receiving one hit.

11 Mar 69:  Due to low ceilings and restricted visibility in the DaNang area, HMM-364 only flew 16 sorties for 4.9 flight hours lifting 1 passenger in support of  MAG-16 and HMM-364. 

12 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 230 sorties for 47.5 flight hours, lifting 55.7 tons of cargo and 340 troops/passengers.  Twelve medevac missions carried 14 Emergency, and 9 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364. 

13 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 256 sorties for 51.6 flight hours, lifting 560.4 tons of cargo, 477 troops/passengers and expended 50 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Sixteen medevac missions carried 7 Emergency, 8 Priority and 6 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Two enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

14 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 241 sorties for 57.3 flight hours, lifting 40.8 tons of cargo, 566 troops/passengers and expending 1,650 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Four medevac missions carried 3 Emergency and 1 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Four enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

15 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 2 sorties for 0.9 flight hours in support of HMM-364. 

16 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 57 sorties for 11.4 flight hours, lifting 8.0 tons of cargo and 69 troops/passengers.  Five medevac missions carried 1 Emergency, 7 Priority and 1 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364. 

17 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 108 sorties for 26.6 flight hours, lifting 1.4 tons of cargo, 237 troops/passengers and expended 1,250 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Nine medevac missions carried 4 Emergency, 12 Priority and 2 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Two enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

18 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 234 sorties for 48.0 flight hours, lifting 57.1 tons of cargo, and 437 troops/passengers. Three medevac missions carried 5 Emergency, 2 Priority and 1 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Four enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.  Four enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

19 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 192 sorties for 40.6 flight hours, lifting 27.8 tons of cargo, 388 troops/passengers and expended 400 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Twenty-one medevac missions carried 11 Emergency, 15 Priority and 26 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Three enemy fire incidents were reported with YK-18 receiving 5 hits, and YK-1 receiving 3 holes from a rocket with 1 WIA.

20 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 267 sorties for 56.6 flight hours, lifting 38.5 tons of cargo, 433 troops/passemgers and expended 100 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Thirty-two medevac missions carried 29 Emergency, 21 Priority and 8 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  Victory Dragon, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Four enemy fire incidents were reported with YK-8 receiving one hit.

21 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 232 sorties for 44.1 flight hours, lifting 2.4 tons of cargo, 267 troops/passengers and expended 800 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Twenty-four medevac missions carried 34 Emergency, 24 Priority and 41 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Five fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

22 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 185 sorties for 49.3 flight hours, lifting 23.9 tons of cargo, 685 troops/passengers and expended 155 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Six fire incidents were reported with YK-20 receiving 2 hits.

23 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 54 sorties for 12.7 flight hours, lifting 3.0 tons of cargo and 130 troops/passengers in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364. 

24 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 116 sorties for 23.5 flight hours, lifting 15.0 tons of cargo, 121 troops/passengers and expended 75 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Fourteen medevac missions carried 1 Emergency, 6 Priority and 32 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units: 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Two enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits. 

25 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 185 sorties for 43.0 flight hours, lifting 22.9 tons of cargo and 358 troops/passengers.  Ninteen medevac missions carried 11 Emergency, 6 Priority and 12 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operations and Units:  Victory Dragon, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Two enemy fire incidents were reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

26 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 145 sorties for 29.8 flight hours, lifting 17.5 tons of cargo and 480 troops/passengers.  One medevac missions carried 1 Emergency, evacuee in support of the following Operation and Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.

27 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 115 sorties for 32.0 flight hours, lifting 405 troops/passengers and expending 2,240 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Eleven medevac missions carried, 11 Emergency, 8 Priority and 13 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Three enemy fire incidents were reported with YK-18 receiving three hits and YK-6 receiving two hits.

28 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 196 sorties for 47.8 flight hours, lifting 22.7 tons of cargo, 440 troops/passengers and expended 200 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Fourteen medevac missions carried 21 Emergency, 31 Priority and 13 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units: 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  One enemy fire incident was reported with no aircraft receiving hits.

29 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 212 sorties for 42.7 flight hours, lifting 31.0 tons of cargo, and 422 troops/passengers.  Three medevac missions carried 1 Emergency, 2 Priority and 10 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units:  Victory Dragon, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.

30 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 114 sorties for 22.7 flight hours, lifting 10.4 tons of cargo and 87 troops/passengers.  Thirteen medevac missions carried 20 Emergency, 15 Priority and 11 Routine evacuees in support of the following Units:  1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.

31 Mar 69:  HMM-364 flew 181 sorties for 43.4 flight hours, lifting 39.7 tons of cargo, 559 troops/passengers and expended 150 rounds of .50 caliber ordnance.  Six medevac missions carried 6 Emergency, 7 Priority and 9 Routine evacuees in support of the following Operation and Units:  Victory Dragon, 1st MARDIV, MAG-16 and HMM-364.  Two enemy fire incidents were reported with YK-11 receiving two hits.

To recap the daily listing, HMM-364 flew 4769 sorties for 1,118.7 flight hours during the period 1-31 March with an average availability of 10 aircraft, lifting 8,871 troops/passengers and 721 tons of cargo.  303 medevac missions evacuated a total of 775 evacuees of which 275 were Emergency, 258 Priority and 242 Routine.  A total of 13,920 rounds of .50 caliber ammunition was expended.

During this period there were 50 incidents of hostile fire directed against squadron aircraft which resulted in 17 aircraft being hit.
